Public Hearings on MARTA FY 2015 Budget Announced

MARTA will hold a series of public hearings on the proposed 2015 budget on May 13th, 14th and 15th at various locations throughout the MARTA service area. The public is invited to attend and offer feedback at one of five meetings, listed below:

Earn a Starbucks Gift Card for Participating in a MARTA Breeze Card Survey

Do you ride MARTA? Researchers at Georgia Tech are looking for participants for a study about technologies used by MARTA riders and their potential impact on transit ridership. To participate in the study, fill out this short, online survey between now and May 12th.

As compensation for completing the survey, you will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card. Instructions to receive the gift card are on the last page of the survey.   The survey only takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. Survey  questions will inquire upon:

  1. Your use of the MARTA bus and rail system
  2. Your use of smartphones apps related to MARTA
  3. Information about you, for example, your age and ethnicity
  4. Your Breeze Card number, a 16-digit number on the back of your Breeze Card fare media. This number is anonymous and not linked to any personal information.

Public Open House Scheduled for Peachtree Road Projects in Buckhead

The Buckhead Community Improvement District (BCID) will host a public open house to gain feedback, present concept drawings, explain the project in detail and seek/answer questions and concerns regarding ongoing work on the Peachtree Road Corridor. All members of the public are encouraged to attend. The project is part of BCID’s Peachtree Transformation initiative, which aims to improve safety and accessibility of this important facility for all users.

The meeting will be held on Thursday (April 3, 2014) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. To learn more about the Peachtree Transformation, please visit the BCID project website.


Upcoming Public Open House to Explore Peachtree Road Improvements in Buckhead

The Buckhead Community Improvement District (BCID) will host a public open house to gain feedback, present concept drawings, explain the project in detail and seek/answer questions and concerns regarding planned upgrades to the Peachtree Road Corridor from Maple Drive to Sheridan Drive. These upgrades are part of a larger project being led by the Georgia Department of Transportation which will result in a more friendly and accessible transportation facility for all users. More information about the scope and purpose of the project may be found at the BCID Peachtree Transformation webpage.

All members of the public are encouraged to attend the open house, scheduled from 10AM to 6PM for Thursday January 30th 2014 at the Buckhead Theatre (3110 Roswell Road, Atlanta GA 30305). Staff will be on hand to answer questions and collect feedback from the public.


City of Atlanta to Hold 2nd Annual Bike Expo this Friday

If you’re curious to know more about getting around on a bicycle in the City of Atlanta, make plans to attend Cycle Atlanta Expo 2013. The City of Atlanta Department of Planning and Community Development invites the public to attend this event, where you can learn about the services, agencies and future projects to improve bicycle commuting facilities found in the City of Atlanta’s Connect Atlanta Comprehensive Transportation Plan. The Expo is free to all and will be held this Friday, October 4th, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Woodruff Park in Downtown Atlanta.


MARTA Announces Regional Small and Minority Business Summit

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will sponsor a Regional Small and Minority Business Summit on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the MARTA Headquarters Building. The purpose of this event is to provide small and minority-owned firms with a forecast of collaborations, projects, and initiatives which will provide significant contracting opportunities throughout the  Atlanta region. Small and minority-owned businesses are invited to attend, where they will be given the opportunity to match-make andnetwork with the primes who are seeking those particular services.

The Regional Summit will be conducted in two sessions on Thursday, September 26, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the MARTA Headquarters Building Atrium located at 2424 Piedmont Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30324.  To register for the Regional Summit, please email Talmech M. Streetcar, Downtown Connector Beautification Efforts on Agenda at Next CAP Town Hall

Stay connected with Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District at their semi-annual town hall meetings. Held at various Downtown venues and hotels, these informal, public meetings are designed to enlighten the community on Downtown’s progress. The next town hall will be held on Thursday July 25th at Balzer Theater at Harren’s. The meeting will start with coffee and networking at 7:30 a.m., program at 8:00 a.m. and end by 9:00 a.m. Meeting highlights will include an Atlanta Streetcar construction update and the latest on efforts to improve the appearance of the Downtown Connector.
