The DeKalb County Department of Planning & Sustainability has begun work on the Medline Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study, which will explore the future community development and transportation needs of neighborhoods and commercial areas near the DeKalb Medical Center in central DeKalb County. The study area for this LCI study totals 520 acres and is framed by four major intersecting corridors: Church Street, Scott Boulevard/Lawrenceville Highway, North Decatur Road and DeKalb Industrial Way. Anchored by a thriving medical center, the area’s thoroughfares carry significant commuter and local traffic volume. Numerous redevelopment opportunities exist in and around the Medline LCI study area as well, creating the need for a long range vision for the area’s future.
There will be many opportunities for the public to participate in the planning process, starting with an upcoming community visioning workshop, which invites attendees to share their ideas for the future of this local activity center. The workshop will be held on Thursday, February 27th at the North Decatur Presbyterian Church (611 Medlock Road, Decatur GA) from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Can’t make it? Feel free to take this survey to share your thoughts and ideas about the future of the Medline area.
