On Thursday January 10, 2013, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Coweta County will hold a Public Hearing Open House concerning an extension of the Newnan Bypass. The open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Coweta County Fairgrounds located at 275 Pine Road, Newnan, Georgia 30263.
The proposed project calls for the construction of a four lane, divided roadway from SR 16 to Turkey Creek Road where the existing Newnan Bypass terminates, would widen SR 16 from an existing two lane road to a five lane section from the existing intersection with US 29/27 Alt./SR 14 to I-85 overpass, and would also construct improvements at the intersection of SR 16, US 29/27 Alt./SR 14, and Pine Road. The length of the proposed project would be approximately 3.2 miles.
Representatives from GDOT and Coweta County will be available from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with project plans and displays. The public will have an opportunity to attend the open house at its convenience to ask questions and discuss the project with a Department or County representative. There will be no formal presentation. A court reporter will be available during this time to allow the public an opportunity to make comments about the project.
