Georgia’s newest interstate highway interchange opened recently at I-575 and Ridgewalk Parkway.  The construction of the interchange, located in the City of Woodstock in Cherokee County, was completed on budget and little over a month ahead of schedule.  A ribbon cutting ceremony for the project was canceled due to weather. Details will be provided in a future TSPOT post once a new date has been confirmed.

“I am proud that through our working relationship with the city of Woodstock, and other local and state officials that we could help another Georgia community meet its transportation needs,” said Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Keith Golden in a recent press release. “This new interchange will improve access to I-575 in that area of Cherokee County, as it continues to grow and develop; enhance the mobility of Cherokee County’s residents; and contribute to these residents’ quality of life,” Golden added.

The new interchange project provides area residents with improved access to Interstate 575. The scope of the project is extensive, as it replaced the existing bridge over I-575, realigned Old Rope Mill Road to intersect with Ridgewalk Parkway and  constructed auxiliary lanes between the new interchange and the existing Towne Lake Interchange one mile to the south.

The interchange will address traffic congestion and support development in the immediate area.
