New Sidewalks to be Built in Douglasville

The City of Douglasville broke ground on two sidewalk projects Wednesday, August 1st, that will help to provide additional pedestrian connectivity within the community.
The installation of sidewalks in a community is directly in line with the goals of The Atlanta Regional Commission’s 2007  Bicycle Transportation & Pedestrian Walkways Plan.  In particular, they will help support the following goals:

-To provide a safe and effective network of pedestrian walkways for the entire Atlanta Region by improving roadside walking conditions and crossing conditions at both uncontrolled locations and signalized intersections.

-Provide safe and convenient pedestrian conditions around high demand destinations that are consistent with ARC land use policies outlined in the Regional Development Plan and Envision6.

-Enhance the health, fitness, and quality of life of the citizens of Atlanta Region.
