Douglasville Breaks Ground on Downtown Improvements

The City of Douglasville held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the O’Neal Plaza East project on Monday, October 10, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. Mayor Mickey Thompson, City Council members, City Manager Bill Osborne, Project Managers Bron Cleveland Associates, Inc., the design team Rosser International, Inc., the contractor Johnson Landscapes, Inc., and City Staff were among the attendees. The project will enhance the downtown core by creating a pedestrian way utilizing alleys located inside of the historic downtown’s most central commercial block of properties.  This plaza, interior to that block, will become a broad, pedestrian friendly plaza with outdoor seating and outdoor dining; an attractive pedestrian courtyard servicing the rear entrances of the businesses fronting on busy streets.
